Trump signed the memo reinstating ban on transgender troops in military.

memo

US President Donald Trump has signed a memo which restores his previous decision of banning transgender in the military which was lifted under last President, Barack Obama.

This memo also puts a stop on funds which are used for sex-reassignment surgery for the people who are active. Meanwhile, he left the decision of retain or not to retain the present active transgender personnel. This ban has been justified on the grounds of the huge cost incurred in the treatment and disruption which is facing a legal challenge by the transgender right activist.

Jennifer Levi, an official at Glad, said in a statement “This policy is a shameful slap in the face to people who put their lives on the line everyday to defend our country”.

She also added, “we are moving quickly with our plaintiffs to see that a court puts a stop to this latest demonstration of President Trump playing politics with people’s lives.”

There are almost 4000 and 10,000nUS active-duty and reserve service members who are believed to be transgender.

This decision have created a widespread distress among people as they believe that this is something which leads them not a step ahead but a step back. This makes the transgender people feel alienated as those among them who wills to serve the country are deprived of it.

Donald Trump suggested that people before him didn’t thought whether their decision would improve or will make military less effective. Which makes people thing whether is he commenting on the ability of people of taking decisions.

He said he had done a great favor on “Pentagon”  by banning transgender troops in the military, saying that the troops prove to “complicate” and “confuse” the working of the military.

His tweets which were criticized already are now gaining more opposition after this memo. People are protesting against this decision as this is clearly a form of discrimination against the transgenders.
