The total voter turnout in the single-phase Tripura Assembly polls today was 74 % which is 17 percent less than the last Assembly election where 91.82 voter turnout was recorded. Election Commission official said Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) was used for the first time for polling in all the booths in Tripura.
There are 25,73,413 registered voters – 13,05,375 male and 12,68,027 female in the state. There are 47,803 new voters this time. Counting of votes will take place on March 3.
There was no voting on Charilam constituency due to the death of CPI(M) candidate Ramendra Narayan Deb Barma last week.
