In a midday encounter today that broke out between a group of invading militants and the armed forces of Kashmir, a terrorist was neutralized while trying to fire on police officials.
A police spokesperson reportedly said that the terrorists had secretly opened fire on the patrolling forces in the middle of the day, in the Sopore township of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police had received special intelligence on the presence of militants in the area, and were carrying out search operations, when a terrorist group opened gunfire on a special team of ‘cordon and search operation’.
The team fired back in retaliation and successfully gunned down one of the militants, whose identity and the purpose of these attacks is yet to be ascertained.
The attacks come days after the gunning down of two Hizbul Mujahideen militants in another encounter in the Sopore district by the armed forces during ongoing anti-militancy operations in the area.
