This year on last Thursday  i.e. September 28 ,2017 on his 110th birthday as a mark of respect and to  pay tribute Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted “I bow to the brave Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his jayanti . His greatness and exemplary courage inspires generations of India.”

When he was just 12 years old, he got shocked by the cruelness showed by the Britishers at Jallianwala Bagh. To be a part of Jallian Wala Bagh Massacre happened there, he collected some blood stained in a bottle and use to worship it as it contained the blood of innocent people.

Three years later, when he was 15 years old he left his home to escape from marriage .

For the better treatment of prisoners, he was on hunger strike for 116 days when he was in jail.

He was inspired by the teachings of the atheist revolutionary Vladinur Lenin and opposed to the Gandhian ideology . He himself was an atheist, he wrote in “Our forefathers evolved faith in some kind of Supreme Being, therefore, one who ventures to challenge the validity of that faith or denies the existence of God, shall be called kafir(infidel),or a renegade. Even if his arguments are so strong that it is impossible to refute them, if his spirit is so strong that he cannot be bowed down by the threats of misfortune that may befall him through the wrath of the Almighty, he shall be decried as vainglorious. Then why should we waste our time in such discussions? This question has come before the people for the first , hence the necessity and usefulness age of such long discussions”.

He was interested in paying much attention to the subjects like socialism ,communalism among others .

He had written some books like Why I am an atheist , The Jail notebook and other Writings ,The Fragnance of Freedom :Writings of Bhagat Singh ,Words of Freedom:Ideals of a Nation .

At the age of 23 he was sentenced to death and his memory will live forever .
