Race for the Champions Trophy begins on 1st of June
Champions Trophy 2017
The Champions Trophy is an International Cricket tournament played between the top eight ranked cricket nations and is held every four years. Indian players being the defending champions have a lot of responsibility on their shoulders to make their country proud once again.
The tournament is going to kick off with England hosting unpredictable Bangladesh side, who are playing their first Champions Trophy, on the 1st of June.
Here are the groups:
Group A: England, Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh.
GROUP B: India, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka.
The Final will take place on 18th of June at the Kennington Oval, London.
India won the Champions Trophy for the first time in 2013 individually after sharing it with Sri Lanka in 2002 and becoming the runners-up in 2002 against New Zealand in 2000. After defeating the host nation England, M S Dhoni became the only captain on the planet to grab all three International Trophies.
One of the major highlight of the tournament is going to be the India-Pakistan thriller taking place on the 4th of June. India may have the perfect record against Pakistan in the World Cups but here the situation’s different, opposite actually till the last Champions Trophy. In the three meetings between these two sides Pakistan came victorious in the first two and India conquered the latter in the 3rd clash.
India’s probable XI against Pakistan:
MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI
Some of these players’ performance has not been up to the expectations but we all know what they are capable of. We sure hope that they all come in form at the time they will be needed to.
