Priya Varrier files plea over case against ‘Oru Adaar Love’
Priya Prakash Varrier whose video went viral on the internet has filed a plea over the case registered against her film ‘Oru Adaar Love’ in the Supreme Court. Priya Prakash is a student of B.Com from a college in Kerala in her plea said the song which was written in 1978 by P.M Jabbar is sung and cherished by the Muslim community in Kerala is now treated as an insult to the Prophet.
On 16th February Raza Academy penned Letter to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani saying Malayalam song insults Prophet Mohammad and his ‘pious wife’ seeking and want the ban on viral song Manikya Malaraya Poovi to avoid any further controversies.
The First Song of Oru Adaar Love became viral on social media within few hours of its release.
Raza academy also protested in Mumbai in front of the Minara Mosque, where they held placards with messages saying, “Stop misuse of sacred personalities.”
Plea filed through advocate Pallavi Pratap said “It is submitted that a song, which …. has been cherished by more than one crore Muslim population of Kerala, cannot suddenly offend the religious sentiment of the Muslim community,”.
