Hurricane Irma has been reported over the Caribbean. It has a wind speed of 280km/h, the US National Hurricane Center said that the places near it should start speeding up with the preparations and all the needed precautions. Hurricane Irma has been put under category five which is considered to be the extremely dangerous category. It is certain that it would bring storm surges, life threatening winds and torrential rainfall in the Leeward Island. It is due to reach Florida on Sunday. It is declared an emergency there.

Irma has been moving at a speed of 22km/h is assumed to reach the Leeward Islands, east of Puerto Rico within next 24 hours. Hurricane warning has been issued for the following islands: Antigua, Barbuda, Anguilla, Montserrat, St Kitts, Nevis, Saba, St Eustatis, Sint Maarten, Saint Martin, Saint Barthelemy, The British Virgin Island, The US virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Vieques and Culebra.

The US National Hurricane Centre said that it would rain up to 30 cm in the northern areas and the water level may rise up to 3.8 m above the normal levels.

Governor Ricardo Rossello announced that the emergency shelters will be available to 62,000 people and schools will be closed from Tuesday. Many people were spotted gathering all the necessary things from the stores and stocking up everything required in the household including water, food, batteries, generators and other supplies.

As reported to the news channels people are all prepared to face the hurricane and are all stocked up with all the necessities and requirements.
