Monday morning saw yet another group of terrorists fail to enter the border, as two militants were gunned down and another arrested alive by security forces in overnight firing in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police spokesperson of Khudwani in Kulgam district said police had received news of the presence of militants in the area and had launched a security cordon. Militants soon fired at the patrolling officials, to which they fired back, and soon neutralized two of the active terrorists, while a third surrendered, and has been arrested.
Police is in the process of identifying the invaders and their group affiliation. Though not confirmed, people in the area ascertain that they must be from the infamous terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen, as not long back another group of terrorists belonging to Hizb had been overpowered and neutralized by security in the area.
This comes as the fourth time in the past one week that terrorists entered and attacked security cordons in J&K.
Although situations are now under control, fear still pervades in the minds and hearts of the people.
Kulgam has been a favorite spot of terrorists, who usually target it for entering into the Kashmir border. In February, two jawans from the army had been martyred in a similar encounter with Pakistani terrorists.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh in a press conference, assured that Kashmir would be soon a safe haven for all, as security has been tightened, and army deployed at several vulnerable locations.
Meanwhile, he also confirmed that compensation for the families of the martyred has been increased to Rs. 5 Lakhs.
