India’s longest bridge
Dhola -Sadiya bridge is 9.2 km long and it is India’s longest bridge. construction of this bridge started in 2015. the project cost was 950 crore. The ‘Dhola-Sadiya’ bridge will be very beneficial in travelling as it will reduce the travel time between the two north-eastern states which are Assam and Arunachal Pradesh by four hours across the brahmputra river. earlier the travel charges were very high between both the states because the travel between two states could happen through road or railways only and Arunachal Pradesh didn’t had a functioning airport too.
The bridge is 540 km away from Guwahati and 300 km from Itanagar . The project was fast tracked in 2015. Dhola-sadiya bridge has great strategic and military implications. Now Indian troops and tanks can move smoothly to arunachal pradesh , a state which is claimed as almost fully by china . The bridge is designed in such a way that it can carry the weight of 60 tonne battle tanks which acts as a major boon for troops. The construction of bridge is completed and is inaugurated too by our prime minister . The inauguration marks completion of three years of BJP government.
