India defeated Sri Lanka by 304 runs in the first Test on Saturday to record there biggest away Test win. India batting first, scored 600 in there first innings and bowled Sri Lanka out for 291. In second inning India batted again with a 309 runs lead without enforcing the follow-on and declared their second innings on 240 for three. Set a mamath target of 550. Chasing the target Sri lanka manage to score only 245 and lost the first test. Spin twins of india took 3 wicket each in second innings. Herath and Gunaratne were unable to bat owing to on-field injuries.
Kohli also became the quickest captain to score 1000 overseas Test runs, reaching the mark in 17 innings.
India lead the three match test series by 1-0. Second test match begin from 3rd August, Thursday on Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo.
Shikhar Dhawan was awarded man of the match for his superb 190 runs of just 168 balls
