Chaos, controversy, confusion, claims and counter claims and everything that you expect from Gujarat Elections were delivered right on the point. BJP President Amit Shah, textile Minister Smriti Irani and Congress veteran Ahmed Patel were declared the victors of the high-profile Rajya Sabha elections at Swarnim Sankul in Gandhinagar (Gujarat). Only 176 votes were casted out of 182 because six Congress MLA’s had already resigned as legislators one of whom was Balwantsinh Rajput who contested against the mighty congressmen Ahmed Patel who will begin his 5th term at the upper house of the Parliament.

BJP hit a new low in their political games when two of their votes by Congress men Raghviji Patel and Bholabhai Gohil were invalidated by the Election Commission because they cross voted and showed their ballot papers to the BJP polling agent and according to the Rule 39 of the Conduct of Election Rules and the EC’S circular on the security of ballots says that a ‘legislator cannot show the ballot to any unauthorized person except his own party’s polling agent authorized by the EC`. The election commission held both the votes invalid after a video footage of the entire rule break was shown to the officer, dropping the vote count to 174. Eight congressmen voted for the BJP which included Shankersinh and Mehendrasinh Vaghela (father and son) but it got even uglier when Karamshi Patel who in 44 MLA crew which flew to Bangalore recently voted for BJP.
