After two terms as back to back vice president of India, Hamid Ansari ended his regime of the second-highest office under the Constitution of India On 9th August.
First time he was elected as the Vice-President of India and the Rajya Sabha Chairman in 2007 and elected again in 2012 beating Jaswant Singh (BJP) by 252 votes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praises Hamid Ansari for his contribution to the Nation and politics.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “diplomatic insights were invaluable” and admitted that the PM discussed finer points of diplomacy with the outgoing Vice-President “before and after” During his bilateral visits.
As the representative of India in the United Nations, Hamid Ansari presented India’s case powerfully. He also served as the Indian High Commissioner to Australia and Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, Iran and Saudi Arabia. His efforts in all these missions strengthened India’s relation with the respective countries.
He was awarded with Padma Shree for his brilliant role in improving India’s diplomatic relations with various countries.
