China is enraged over Dalai Lama’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh claiming that it would severely damage indo-china bilateral ties. According to china foreign ministry spokes person Tibetan leader’s visit to the state will accelerate dispute in border areas and adding to it he stated that “India disregarding the concerns of China intentionally organized Dalai Lama’s visit to the disputed part of the eastern part of China-India border causing severe damage to China’s interests and Indo-China relations. China is strongly opposing his visit to Arunachal because it considers Dalai Lama dangerous separatist who wants to free Tibet from China. Between all these tensions and controversies Dalai Lama made a very clear statement clarifying that India has never used him against China and further added that Tibet is a part of China which just needs more development.
Minister of state for home affairs of India, Kiren Rijiju, denying the claims of china that calls the state of Arunachal Pradesh as ‘south Tibet’ said, “the border state is an integral and inseparable part of the country and china has no right to impede in India’s internal affairs.” He further added that India respects Beijing’s ‘one-China’ policy and expects from China to reciprocate. China however expressed its strong opposition to the visit and will lodge stern representations with the Indian side. Chinese foreign minister spokesperson said that, “By overlooking China’s worries and persisting in organizing the visit, India has “seriously harmed China’s interests and China-India relations.”
Although the visit of Dalai Lama to the state of Arunachal Pradesh has been clarified by India as a mere religious visit with no politics involved, China is not ready to take the situation as it is and is constantly blaming India for undermining Chinese interests and claiming Dalai Lama as not being just a spiritual leader but a threat to Chinese interests. According to Chinese, the visit of Dalai Lama to Arunachal cannot be purely of religious purpose but it has some other hidden factors that will prove to be a menace for China. China further warned India to immediately stop wrong actions that can hype up sensitive issues and take serious steps to safeguard growth of Indo-China relations.
Reacting to the china’s take over the issue, the external affairs ministry of India clearly said that “China is making ‘artificial controversies’ over Dalai Lama’s visit, which has nothing to do with the Chinese Interests.”
