Cristiano Ronaldo banned for five games

Real Madrid Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for five games after he was sent off in Spanish Super Cup first leg for pushing the referee. He has also been fined €3,000 (£2,700) for the incident and will miss Real’s next five games.

In Article 96 of the Spanish federation’s rule book, it is stated that a “grab, push or shake” on a referee in a manner that is “slightly violent” sees a player banned for four to 12 matches.

Ronaldo will now miss Wednesday’s second leg against Barcelona. Real Madrid is crushing at the moment with the advantage of (3-1) at the first leg and most important 3 away goals.
