As expected, Nitish Kumar’s led Janta Dal United faction formally joined its older ally NDA today. The decision to return to the NDA  came almost after four years. On June 16, 2013 JD (U) led by Nitish Kumar broke its ties with NDA  after Narendra Modi was declared the prime ministerial candidate.

For Nitish, the Ghar Wapsi ( home coming) to enjoy the sukh of ‘family power’ came weeks after he ended the grand  alliance with RJD and Congress and formed the government in Bihar with BJP’s support.

The decision to join NDA was taken at the National Executive meeting held in Patna today at Nitish Kumar’s residence.

Other faction of JD (U) led by Sharad Yadav called a parallel meeting, “Jan Adalat” which was meant as a show of  strength of Yadav led faction. Problems in JD(U) started after Nitish Kumar broke the alliance with Congress and RJD.

Nitish Kumar’s joining   BJP led NDA shows two thing: First, the strength of  BJP, indicative of Modi’s continuous onward march to the road of power, going beyond 2019 a process-that got started with BJP’s victory in Uttar Pradesh, the heartland of India. Second, there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics. Only a chameleon is the real winner in politics
